Following on from the Premier Women team’s success in 2012 where they won the Waikato Championship and their 2nd place in the Midlands Intercity Competition, making them the highest placed Waikato team, the Committee has decided to enter a second Premier Women’s Team.
Why? What has happened?
The Waikato Hockey Association has decided not to enter the Club Premier Teams in the Intercity competition in 2013. Instead they wish to focus on growing and strengthening the local competition. To this end the Senior Division Committee has decided two things.
- That the Premier Women’s grade will be expanded from the current 4 to 6 teams.
- Teams will be limited to registering up to 4 NHL level players from the previous year, in an attempt to even out the competition.
Fraser Tech was fortunate to contribute more than four players to the Midlands NHL team in 2012. To maintain our strong position and allow new players to join us, we have decided to split last year’s team into two and recruit new players. Both teams will train, cooperatively and at the same time, providing a unique, dynamic and high performance training environment. The word is that this has excited support from last year’s players.
It is also a great opportunity for reserve grade players to challenge themselves and step up to the exciting premier grade.
We call all interested female players to the Musters/Trials on the 9th and 17th of March.
Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have a Tech – Tech final!
Well done guys. Look forward to following the 2 prem team senario on the web.
Please put in my apologies for the AGM, as unfortunately I can’t make it this year.
Cheers, Sharon
