Fraser Tech Hockey Club

The Season Has Started!

The club has had a great start to the season with wins for all three premier teams last weekend, and draws or narrow losses to last year's main rivals in the other grades. With great Prem grade hockey from 1:30pm through to 6pm, and happy hour from 4:30 ($2.50 alcoholic drinks) it's never been better to support your club mates at the turf on a Saturday afternoon.

The new 6-a-side competition kicked off on Thursday the 4th with a "Have a Go" evening. Jack Clayton started it off by giving a quick coaching session on skills and tactics, and by the end of the evening Tech had gained three excited teams. We do still have space for a few players, if you know anyone interested competitive games will start 2nd May.

Your manager will give you a subscriptions invoice in the next week, with the first half payment due 30th April. Don't forget that you can reduce your subs if you put some effort into fundraising. We've got some great opportunities lined up with Entertainment Books and a cracker with Lime Group Mortgage Brokers. See the post below.

There are 4 women's International matches being played this Wednesday and Thursday evenings between New Zealand, Argentina, USA and Korea. Games start at 5pm and 7pm. More details here. If you help clean up on Wednesday evening (from about 8:15pm), you can get in for free - reply to this email to if you can help.

The Rae-Martin Challenge Shield is on the line in the Premier Men's match with Hamilton Old Boys in two weeks. This game is played every year in memory of Gary Rae of Old Boys and Floss Martin of Fraser Tech, as a celebration of their contributions to the Waikato Hockey Community. So mark 4:30pm, Saturday 27th April in your diary. There will be a free BBQ going for Fraser Tech supporters, and happy hour at the pavilion bar from 4:30 to 5:30pm.

Finally, good luck to everyone for their games this weekend, especially The Oaks Reserve Women who have their first game on Sunday.
